Debi Shearwater trip from Clipper Yacht Harbor, 310 Harbor Dr., Sausalito on the Outer Limits, 7:30-4:30.
Left at 8am, 2.5 hours to the Farallon, then a few miles to the Continental shelf. Overcast day, mild to medium choppiness, calm return. Try patch next time.
Guides: Peter Pyle, Sarah Allen (‘Marine Mammals of California”) and Gerry McChesney, Farallon NWR Manager. Peter and Sarah (and a 3rd fellow) were conducting a Big Day for Mammals and may write a paper. They started at midnight and had 21 species thus far, including a variety of bats identified acoustically via two pieces of software, one that translates high frequency to low frequency and the second that does the id itself.
